Moriah Lee "About Me"(Self Portrait)...

My name is Moriah Lee I am 18 years old I'm from Fayetteville, N.C. This is my 2nd year at NCSA. and... I play cello. which I enjoy doing. I love living here in Winston it's a complete change of pace rather than living in Fay which is complete military, jarheads walking around. sometimes it's nice not to see that and at times I catch myself missing it (bittersweet I guess you could say) =] ANCESTORS... hmmmmm about that as far as I am concerned I have majority of them from Ireland and Puerto Rico. My dad is in the Military which explains why my family is settled in Fay right now, we used to live in Germany for a few years. Digital Media plays a big role in my life everyday as an artist I am constantly using technology to help better my studies with music. just in general everything around me is fast pace technology on the rise. As a child its been a tradition in my family to plant a garden full of anything and everything that everyone wants so I actually love growing food I enjoy it. As far as I can remember art has been apart of my life my parents sent me to like an art's middle school I guess you could say I you had to choose 3 different arts of interest and go from there. I choose music I or. Viola and then switched to cello as well as visual arts (drawing class) and pottery and from there that's where my passion developed for all the arts. Being apart of the youth in America currently I see that throughout the school systems there is not enough exposure given to kids so they can decide art for themselves. which explains why majority are acting out the way they are now etc. I feel as if everyone should be given an equal opportunity to explore arts and decide from there. If you were to walk down the street and ask a teen if they liked classical music they would either frown and be like no or simply be like no what is that... lol this is funny to me because I grew up in a family where I was exposed to everything with an open mind.

Homework Week 4

I feel as if that there is never going to be one direct definition of Creativity of course there is the general perception of what it means but I feel like the definition of this word can be what ever anyone wants it to be. The definition that I seem to get from everywhere is just the "state of being creative" but that does not describe anything because nothing is being defined. but that doesn't matter you can make up any definition that you want and it will be right. Honestly don't really have too much to say about Influence and Ownership because it's pretty straight forward in terms of definition. All of these words are key to the audio clip about DMA.

In Studio Week Four/ CMap

The area that I'm most interested in is the music part. I would like to meet with a young Montagnard musician and listen to traditional music as well as me playing traditional classical music on cello and then maybe eventually playing together and throughout this whole process comparing and contrasting western music with Vietnamese music. I think the thing that made me the most interested in picking a musician is the video link of the Montagnard's playing traditional instruments. I think the tools that will help this become successful is doing more research on one person in particular in the community and figure out a way where we could meet up and possibly just listen to one another play our instruments and then from there jam some and explore music through each of our instruments

Homework week 2

Framing... well I'm not sure in what way I really interpreted framing in terms of the videos. I feel as if we live in a nation that is foreign to digital media studies and technology. We live in a technological age where everything you see or do involves technology. I agree that framing is some type of intellectual thinking skill and not only thinking but talking as well. I feel as if for one to expand and learn more about their own idea they need to hear voices from others.
